Game! Set! Match!
I was hoping for the best this weekend but it was all for not. A fumble by Havili at the Oregon 16 and Sanchez's first INT inside the USC 20 sealed the day for the Trojans.

Without the two TO's that resulted in 14 Oregon points I am thinking USC stood a decent chance of hanging on for a win. Other than Dixon's run early in the first half when he had a hole that you could drive a semi through, the USC Defense held together rather well. It was nice seeing Brian Cushing back. Hopefully, Mays, Cushing, Matthews and Ellis can keep playing tough D and get through the rest of the schedule unscathed.

The Trojans should be able to handle Oregon State and then roll through Cal (SC seems to have Longshore's number). They will be facing a tough opponent in ASU in three weeks and end with UCLA (who has gotten worse this year like SC - This is going to be a pride game).

I can't believe some bozo's at ESPN have USC still making a BCS bowl. They must not be watching the games I watched this year. With the banged up O Line it is hard to see the team cruising the rest of the year and going 10-2. But hey, this is one strange college football year. If ASU beats Oregon and then USC beats ASU anything is possible. But they must get past OSU and Cal before even thinking about the Devils.

Good luck guys. I can not wait to see what Mustain and company do next year. Yeah, it's that bad in Trojan land that I am already dreaming of next year. It's only 12 months away.....Fight On!

Booty! Booty! Booty! Has given way to one Mark Sanchez!!!

How fast the senior QB has fallen. Should Sanchez win against Oregon on October 27 Mr. Booty will be all but done in 2007. The returning Heisman hopeful is now the man riding the golden pine.

What should be interesting is what happens next year when one Mr. Mustain begins to play with his WR and RB from Arkansas. Does Carroll go with the young who transferred to get away from Nutt and his terrible coaching or does he stay with Mr. Sanchez who put up four TD's against a terrible Notre Dame team.

Congrats to Rodney Peete getting Brady Quinn to wear a USC jersey during an interview this past week. At least Quinn was man enough to not take points and honor the bet.

Good Luck to the Sanchez family and good luck this week Mark. Beat the Ducks!!!

No more Booty! Booty! Booty!Well, another week, another INT for a TD. But this year it is the opposition scoring on USC. Four INT's this week but the fourth coming as a desperation pass.

Another game filled with penalties and no pressure on the opposition's QB. Buehler misses the PAT. Carroll does not kick the FG but has Stanley get stopped inside the five on fourth down. Pete, I hate to tell you this but you do not have Reggie or LenDale anymore. Take the friggin points man. Kick the FG even if Buehler had a PAT blocked earlier.

Stanford's O & D lines were protecting their QB while the D line was punishing Booty. USC's O & D lines were just horrible. There was no pressure, there was no protection. A fourth and 20 and they let Stanford complete a pass for the first down. Where is the coverage? I know there have been injuries but a fourth and 20 with under 1 minute in the fourth quarter. Step it up and play like Parade All-Americans.

I wonder if Sanchez gets the nod next year. I look Booty but he has regressed since last year. It looks like he is living with the ghosts of Palmer and Leinart.

At least next year Sanchez and Mustain will be fighting for the starting QB with INT Booty out of USC.

Good luck to make the Rose Bowl (hopefully).
Game 3: NLDS
Cubs vs. Diamondbacks

Not a good day to be DeRosa. I've known since little league that if the pitcher walks the bases loaded you do not, I repeat, DO NOT, swing at the first pitch. Nor do you swing at anything until there is a full count.

It's okay, there is always next year.

I seriously think it's better to not make the post season then to continually under achieve. Thanks Cubbies....see you in 2008.

Game 2: NLDS
Cubs vs. Diamondbacks

Lilly's aversion to pitching with a lead. This has happened every game I watched or attended this year. The Cubs give Lilly a lead and the next half inning - BOOM - he gives up the gopher. Not sure what his problem is but he better fix it or it's going to be a long two years watching this guy in 08 & 09.

The Cubs are making Arizona's pitching staff look really good. Webb is a great pitcher and he had the hitters fooled in game 1 but Davis in game 2....come on Cubbies you can hit better than that. This game should have been a W but it wasn't.

At least try not to lose on Saturday to avoid the sweep. Go Cubbies!!!

Game 1: NLDS
Cubs vs. Diamondbacks
Wait 'til next year is here!

It's nice that Lou wanted to save Big Z for game 4 but what happens when/if the Cubbies get swept? If Sunday never happens, how much does Sweet Lou get bombarded with the "how can you pull Zambrano" questions? How does that affect the team for next year? Well, let us hope for Lou's sake that the Cubs take this series and his decision to pull Big Z becomes a non-factor.

There was some really nice hitting displays by Soriano, Jones, & Lee last night. Your stud pitcher leads off with a double and you leave him there. What was that? Three K's in a row. You guys are good. Big Z never saw the light of third base thanks to some terrible at bats but at least he cooled down with the breeze and pitched effectively for the next three innings.

Nice managing Lou. TheRiot gets on second with a base hit and error but Big Z doesn't bunt to move him over. I guess I could understand since the Cubs pitchers couldn't bunt if their lives depended on it.

On the other hand, Webb did pitch a great game and the young D'Backs are hungry and playing hard.

The Cubs better come back tonight looking for blood.

My advice for Game 2 to Lilly: When you get a run in the top of the inning try not to give up the gopher ball in the bottom of the inning. And for God's sake man, learn how to BUNT!
